Italian Riviera Yacht Charter

Italian Riviera Yacht Charter
Just as sun-drenched and historic as its more famous French neighbor, the Italian Riviera offers an equally rich palette of colors and flavors. Some charter clients like to extend their voyage of the Côte d’Azur into Northern Italian waters, while others prefer to charter Italy’s entire Med coastline.

Cinque Terre

Begin your international yachting charter itinerary to the north in Genoa, Columbus’ birthplace. Then cruise south to explore Cinq Terre, the “Five Lands” – the colorful villages of Monterosso al Mare, Vermazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore – all carved into the rugged hillsides of the Ligurian coast. These towns are the perfect place to sip espresso or café macchiato at a waterfront café and watch the world go by.

A must-see stop on this itinerary is Portofino, a yachting mecca – albeit a tight one, as only three or four large vessels can fit in the narrow harbor at any given time. High atop the hillside, the Hotel Splendido’s terrace bar will give you a splendid bird’s eye view of your charter yacht below.

Add a bit of history to your itinerary with a visit to the island of Elba, which lies just offshore in the Tuscan archipelago. This island is where Napoleon was exiled in 1814, although he escaped within a year. Walk along the stone walls that housed the emperor and the several hundred troops who stayed with him, looking out at the sea views that have changed little in the two centuries since.

End your Italian itinerary in Rome, where “all roads lead,” including sea lanes. Visit the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, St Peter’s Square, the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, the Forum…there’s no end to the historical treasures you can see in the Eternal City before your flight home.
