Mateo possesses comprehensive knowledge of the multi-faceted yachting industry, bringing his previous experience in finance, real estate, and charter management to assist FGI Yacht Group.
He has consulted with clients from a variety of backgrounds during his tenure in real estate which provided him with encyclopedic proficiency in meeting expectations. His goals are to provide excellent white-glove service to both clients and colleagues that depend on his support.
Born in the small, picturesque city of Manizales in the mountainous coffee-growing region of western Colombia, Mateo was brought to Miami by his family as a toddler. When he grew up, he initially attended nautical school, but soon transferred to Miami Dade College, where he obtained an A.S. in General Business Administration and Management. He subsequently went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Finance from Florida International University.
Prior to coming to FGI, Mateo has enjoyed a varied career, working with the world’s leading luxury real estate firm, a major US bank, and two yachting companies where he has refined his skills in the industry.
A 20-year resident of Florida who is bilingual in English and Spanish and taking lessons in Portuguese and Italian, Mateo currently resides in Hollywood. In his leisure time, he spends countless hours in the company of books and is intrigued with learning about quantum theory, ancient wisdom and philosophy, the nature of human psychology, — all while simultaneously pursuing holistic wellness, growing his investment portfolio, and indulging a passion for soccer
